The main function of the FESTO solenoid valve is to control the switching of liquid and gas pipelines in a two-position digital output control. This valve is commonly used for small pipeline control. On the other hand, electric valves are utilized for regulating medium-flow in liquid, gas, and wind system pipelines. These are generally controlled by Artificial Intelligence. Electric valves can also be used to control large valves and air systems as two-position switch controls. In contrast, electromagnetic valves can only be used as switch signals for digital output control. They are commonly used in pipelines with diameter equal to or less than DN50 and are rarely used for larger pipelines. Electric valves, in contrast, are versatile and can have AI feedback signals, are controlled by DO or AO, and are more suited for large pipelines and air valves.

FESTO solenoid valves have a number of important characteristics:
Internal and external leakage is a factor that endangers safety. However, FESTO solenoid valves make it easy to control internal leakage, and can effectively block external leakage. Other automatic control valves often have problems with external leakage caused by the long-term action of the valve stem dynamic seal. FESTO solenoid valves, on the other hand, are completed by applying electromagnetic force to the iron core sealed in the magnetic isolation sleeve of the electric control valve, without the need for dynamic sealing. This makes external leakage easy to block, enhancing safety.
FESTO solenoid valves have a simple structure and low price, making them easier to install and maintain compared to other types of actuators such as control valves. Additionally, the composed automatic control system is much simpler and much cheaper. Due to the switch signal control of the solenoid valve, it is very convenient to connect with the industrial computer. In today's era of widespread use of computers and significant price reductions, the advantage of solenoid valves becomes even more apparent.
The response time of FESTO solenoid valves can be as short as a few milliseconds, due to its own circuit. It responds more sensitively than other automatic control valves. Properly designed solenoid valve coils have low power consumption, making them energy-saving products. Additionally, the solenoid valve can achieve automatic valve position control by simply triggering the action, without consuming any electricity during normal operation. The electromagnetic valve has a small external size, which saves space and is lightweight and beautiful.
One limitation of FESTO solenoid valves is that they usually only have two states: on and off, and the valve core can only be in two extreme positions and cannot be continuously adjusted. Additionally, electromagnetic valves have high requirements for the cleanliness of the medium, and media containing particles cannot be used. If impurities are present, they must be filtered out first. Viscous media are not suitable, and the viscosity range of the media suitable for specific products is relatively narrow.
Despite its inherent shortcomings, electromagnetic valves have many advantages. FESTO solenoid valves have been designed into a variety of products to meet various needs and have a wide range of applications.
Selecting solenoid valves according to the type of power supply is important. For AC and DC solenoid valves, AC power supply is generally more convenient to access. It is recommended to use AC220V for voltage specifications DC24V. The fluctuation of power supply voltage should be within the allowable range of +% 10% for AC- 15%, and DC is allowed to be around ± 10%. If it exceeds the tolerance, voltage stabilization measures must be taken or special orders must be made. It is necessary to select the rated current and power consumption based on the power supply capacity. Attention should be paid to the high VA value during AC starting, and indirect solenoid valves should be preferred when the capacity is insufficient.
When selecting solenoid valves, it is important to consider the environment it will be used in. It is recommended that the maximum and minimum temperatures of the environment should be selected within the allowable range. If there are any deviations, special orders should be made. Waterproof solenoid valves should be selected for environments with high relative humidity, water droplets or rain. Special varieties, such as marine solenoid valves, should be selected for situations where there are frequent vibrations, bumps, and impacts in the environment. For use in corrosive or explosive environments, priority should be given to selecting corrosion-resistant materials based on safety requirements. When the environmental space is limited, multifunctional solenoid valves are the way to go, as it eliminates the need for bypass and three manual valves and is convenient for online maintenance.
It is important to choose different types of solenoid valves for gas-liquid or mixed states. Different specifications of products with different medium temperatures should be used, otherwise the coil will burn out, the sealing components will age, and it will seriously affect the service life. The medium temperature should be selected within the allowable range of the solenoid valve. If the viscosity of the medium exceeds 50cSt and the diameter is less than 15mm, a high viscosity solenoid valve should be selected. When the cleanliness of the medium is not high, a backwash filter valve should be installed in front of the solenoid valve. If the medium flows in a directional manner and backflow is not allowed, it is important to select the appropriate solenoid valve to avoid any issues.
